Sundays

One of the more unique aspects of how The City Church exists is our Sunday schedule. We strongly believe in worshipping together, and that worship includes songs, creeds, sermons, and communion. But we also believe that God designed worship to be much more than a specific event every week. In order to equip you to worship with all your life - "whether you eat or drink or whatever you do" (1 Corinthians 10:31) - The City Church worships together every Sunday. But we do so in a rhythm of "Gathered Worship" and "Scattered Worship."
Gathered Worship [All-Church Gatherings: All But the Last Sunday of Each Month]
**NOTE: THE INFO BELOW IS POSTED IN PREPARATION FOR "MOVING DAY," JANUARY 22 - UNTIL THEN, ALL-CHURCH GATHERINGS ARE SUNDAYS AT 5pm, 312 HOUSTON ST, 76102
Realizing there is unity and beauty when the entire church body gathers, and knowing the biblical mandate for teaching, singing, communion, etc, The City Church gathers together every Sunday at 10:30am, except the last Sunday of each month [see the schedule here]. Our Villages come together at 4449 Camp Bowie in the heart of Fort Worth's cultural and historical center: we celebrate God through song, prayer, and creed; we celebrate God’s word through preaching his word; we celebrate Christ’s finished work through communion; and we celebrate God’s work in our church family through sharing what he’s doing in our lives.
> Parking/Getting Around:
- 4449 Camp Bowie is the Texas Girls Choir Building, but look for "The City Church" and "City Church Parking" signs along Camp Bowie on Sundays.

Scattered Worship [Last Sunday of the Month]
The Bible teaches that all of life is worship - worship isn't limited to a gathering with people singing (Rom 11:36-12:2; 1Cor 10:31; etc.). In our gospel identities, worship isn't limited to any one 'circle' or another - it's the goal and purpose of everything we do as followers of Christ. So the last Sunday each month, The City Church "scatters for worship," worshipping God in various - biblical, commanded - ways:
- Sabbath: in a long-forgotten worship practice in the modern church, we try to raise the godly value of rest, as we occasionally worship through collective Sabbath. Click here for ideas and suggestions on how to Sabbath well, whether individually, as a community, or as a family. And enjoy a day of worship, simply by "being still and knowing I am God," as we reflect God and live out the biblical, worshipful idea of Sabbath rest.
- SERVE: The book of James calls loving widows and orphans "true religion" (James 1:21). Jeremiah tells God's people that they're called to "seek the welfare of the city where I've sent you" (Jer 29:4-8). On some Scattered Sundays, we worship through serving our city, through showing glimpses of the gospel through beautifying run-down parts of Fort Worth, and in other ways. Other Villages in your District will join yours, to serve the place & people occasionally, where your Village lives as missionaries & invests regularly. We clean up parks, serve at homeless shelters, community centers, and elementary schools, and any number of other opportunities as God opens doors.
- Love Your Neighbors: Jesus says the greatest commandment is to "love your neighbors" (Mark 12:35). In Amos, God goes as far as to rebuke his people, and to command them to stop singing to him and making offerings to him, because they don't love and serve the people he put around them (Amos 4). On some Scattered Sundays, we worship by throwing block parties, inviting co-workers and classmates over for dinner, mowing elderly neighbors’ yard then eat dinner with them, or any number of other opportunities as God opens doors.
